It's Tough saying Goodbye to the Bulls

The Bulls are gone. I got the news today in a phone call from Belleville.
It hit me like a ton of bricks. A flood of memories…from the Tier Two days when Doc took the team to the Centennial Cup, to the present.

There is a long list of wonderful hockey players that I have watched in that arena over the years.

But there have been many other hockey folk who have darkened the doors of the Quinte Sports Centre. To name a few: Herb Brooks, coach of the American team that won the Olympic Gold medals in Lake Placid; George Armstrong, great hockey player and coach, Doug Harvey, also a Hall of Famer when he played for the Habs; Mike Palmateer, former Leaf goaltender; Rick Walmsley, who played for several NHL teams, Bobby Hull, Hall of Famer and great friend of former owner Dr. Bob Vaughan; Gerry Cheevers, Hall of Fame goalie who played most of his career with the Bruins; Bobby Orr, also a Hall of Famer, in his role as a player agent; Doug Gilmour, who played for the Bulls as a Tier Two player, then as a coach and GM of the Kingston Frontenacs; Wayne Gretzky, when he was part owner of the Bulls, many of the Crawford family, in one capacity or another;  Rick Meagher, who has contributed so much to the entire community.

Alas, that is but a few. Please feel free to add to that list.

My favourite players, all time?

Daniel Cleary, Craig Billington, Jonathan Cheechoo, Justin Papineau, Brent Gretzky, Marty McSorley, Darren McCarty, Radim Bicanek, Richard Park, Craig Coxe, Steve Bancroft, P. K. Subban, and his brothers, Dave McLean, Scott Feasby, Craig Kitchener, Rob Preston, Harkie Singh, Brian Secord, Branko Radivojevic, Branislav Mezei, Shawn Matthias, Randy Rowe, Andrei Shurupov, Ryan Ready, Jason Lawmaster, Chris Stanley, Dunc McIntyre, Angelo Catenaro, Mark Chaplin, David Silverstone, Jason Spezza, Chris Newbury, Ali Butorac, Scott Simmons, Brian Chapman...

And that is also a very incomplete list!

This is the first day. It is still sinking in.

This is going to hurt, in so many different ways. For so many of us.
