Belleville's Andrew Shaw, a former Stanley Cup winner with the Chicago Blackhawks, will miss at least a month of NHL action with a 'lower body injury,' the Montreal Canadiens announced this week.
The feisty 26-year-old forward could miss up to six weeks, according to the Canadiens. Shaw hasn't played for the Habs since a shootout loss to the Boston Bruins on Jan. 13.
Shaw has 10 goals and 19 points in 43 games for Montreal this season. He had 12-17-29 scoring totals and 110 penalty minutes in 68 games last season after being dealt to the Canadiens following five years in Chicago.
Shaw's single-season high for goals is 20, which he scored during the 2013-14 NHL campaign with the Hawks. He was a fifth-round selection of Chicago (139) at the 2011 NHL draft.
Shaw played in the OHL with Owen Sound and Niagara.

The Belleville Senators announced Wednesday that veteran defenceman Erik Burgdoerfer, 29, has been reassigned to the AHL club by the parent Ottawa Senators.
Burgdoerfer has appeared in one game for Ottawa this season and a team-high 45 for the B-Sens. The six-foot-one native of East Setauket, NY, has five goals and 12 points along with 47 PMs for Belleville so far this season.
B-Sens return to regular-season action on Friday after five days off following the 2018 AHL All-Star break. B-Sens visit Binghamton Friday and Bridgeport Saturday. On Wednesday, Feb. 7, Belleville is at Rochester.

After 46 games, B-Sens are 18-24-4 and have lost their last four games. Belleville picked up just one of a possible eight points during that four-game span before the All-Star break.
